We wanted to visit the COEX Mall on our second day in Seoul. This mall is located in the basement of the Korea World Trade Center, in the Gangnam-gu area of Seoul. So it was quite far away from our apartment. We got there by taking the subway line 2 and got off at exit 8 at the Seolleung station.
The COEX is the largest underground shopping center in Asia. Here you will find a large number of Korean, European and American brand name stores. There are also plenty of restaurants (Korean, Japanese , Chinese, and Western food) and resting areas as well. Not to mention exhibition halls, a convention center, hotels, a casino and movie theater.
We decided to visit the COEX Aquarium, as we randomly walked past the entrance in the mall. The aquarium had many species of fishes and sharks, and is pretty diverse with other types of animals as well. Such as penguins, bats, turtles, guinea pigs and chipmunks etc. There’s also a touch pool with starfishes, sea pineapples, Garrarufa fishes and sea slugs- So it’s a nice place to visit for families with children.
These worm shaped fishes were sticking out from the sand. Does anyone what they are called?😕
We also spotted some bats at the aquarium.
After spending 1.5 hours at the aquarium, we then dropped by this Korean restaurant for some dinner. Both of us ordered the Bibimbap, which is a pretty popular Korean dish. It consists of warm white rice topped with seasoned vegetable, chili pepper paste, soy sauce and sliced beef. You usually stir this altogether just before eating. Has anyone tried this dish before? 🍲
We still felt a little jetlagged, so we headed back home after dinner. And that pretty much wraps up our second day here in Seoul.
“Has anyone been to the COEX Mall before?”
Stay tuned for our next Korea post!
