Copenhagen Trip 2017- Day 1: Opera house & Nyhavn

Hello everyone~

We are going to blog about our recent trip to Copenhagen! It was a very short trip, as we only stayed there for four days. This post is about our first day here. Today’s weather was really nice, as it was sunny outside. But it was extremely cold. Much colder than in Norway, which was very surprising, as there is no snow here compared to back home. So we were really glad that we came prepared, as we brought with us thick parka jackets, warm sweaters, beanies, gloves and scarves (o´∀`o).

Opera House, Copenhagen

Our first stop of the day was the Opera House, it was quite easy to get there, as one of the buses stops right in front of the Opera House.

There were barely anyone there when we arrived. Perhaps because it was still early during the day, and this was on a weekday. We walked around the area for while, enjoying the view of the surrounding area. This would be a nice way to spend a lazy day, if only it was a little warmer.

We then proceeded to our next destination- Nyhavn. There are these boats that service in between the Opera house and Nyhavn. So we jumped on one of them and headed towards Nyhavn\(^▽^)/.

Nyhavn

The boat ride to Nyhavn only took around 8 minutes. We then walked down to Nyhavn from the pier. It reminded us of Bergen, due to the colorful houses close to the water. The streets of Nyhavn was shorter than expected, so it only took us around 5 minutes to walked down the entire street.

There was many restaurants along that street, so we just randomly choose one of them; to have some brunch. We got a little confused by the menu, as brunch here is actually breakfast, and frokost ( which is breakfast in Norwegian) means lunch/brunch here. We finally decided to order some “frokost”, which consisted of egg, bacon, toast, salad, fruits, and homemade jam. The apple jam was especially good. The restaurant was quite cosy, so we spent around an hour here, just enjoying our lunch.

Dinner

We went on a small shopping spree later that day. Afterwards we decided to have dinner at one of the restaurants near our hotel.

  1. Finally a new blog post 😀 I have never been to Copenhagen before. How’s the food and shopping there?

    1. Hi Naima 🙂 The food is very similar to the Norwegian cuisine, but there were a larger selection of organic foods here.
The shopping was pretty good, you can find many Danish designer brands in the shopping malls.

  2. We did a boat tour around as well and arrived at Nyhavn that way too. We also ate there along the water (very touristy!) – we loved the smørrebrød.

    1. Yeah the Nyhavn area was very touristy, but the food was good, especially the shrimp smørrebrød ☺️
