A visit to the Christiansten Fortress | May 2017

Hello everyone 🌸~

Looks like spring is finally here in Trondheim. Which is about time, as the snow has been here for too long. Just as we were ready to pack away our winter wear, the snow just surprisingly appears again. Not to mention that the weather, during the past weeks, have been pretty unpredictable. Where you get to experience ‘4 seasons in a single day’.

So let’s just say that we’re really looking forward to the summer ☀️. Today’s weather was so nice, so we decided to spend as much time outdoors as possible.

Christiansten Fortress

For today, we decided to be tourists in our own city (it’s fun to do that for a change), so the Christiansten Fortress was our main destination of the day . It has been a while since we’ve been here. We usually visited this place during our school field trips.

There were quite a number of people there, because of the beautiful weather. Many were having  picnics. Too bad we didn’t bring any food with us, as a picnic would be perfect for today.

Kristiansten Fortress (which is called Kristiansten Festning in Norwegian) is located on a hill east of the city of Trondheim. It was built after the city fire of Trondheim in 1681, and the construction was finished in 1685.

You can get a pretty nice view over Trondheim city here. So we just stood there, enjoying the beautiful city view for a moment. You can easily spot Munkholmen and the river Nidelva from here.

Then we sat down at a small café ☕️, and spent a few hours chatting away, before heading home.

And this wraps up our mini touristy day╰(*´︶`*)╯🌸.

Have you ever been a tourist in your own city before?

Stay tuned for our next blog post! ^^
